Summary: MessagePilot processes all SMS messages locally on your device. We do not read, store, or transmit your message content to our servers.
1. Information We Collect
MessagePilot collects minimal data to provide its service:
- Device Identifier: A unique anonymous device ID for account management and usage tracking.
- Platform & App Version: To ensure compatibility and provide updates.
- Usage Statistics: Aggregate forwarding counts (number of messages forwarded per channel type, success/failure rates). We do NOT collect message content.
- Feedback: Only when you voluntarily submit feedback through the app.
2. SMS Message Handling
Your SMS messages are NEVER sent to our servers. All message reading, filtering, and forwarding happens entirely on your device. Messages are forwarded directly from your device to the destinations you configure (Email, Telegram, Slack, etc.).
We do not:
- Read or store the content of your SMS messages
- Access your contacts or call logs beyond what is needed for sender identification
- Sell, share, or transmit your message data to any third party
- Use your message data for advertising or profiling
3. Permissions
MessagePilot requires the following permissions:
- RECEIVE_SMS / READ_SMS: To detect incoming messages and apply your forwarding rules.
- INTERNET: To forward messages to your configured destinations.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE: To keep the SMS listener running in the background.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: To restart the service after device reboot.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To show service status and forwarding notifications.
4. Third-Party Services
When you configure forwarding destinations, your messages are sent to third-party services based on your configuration:
- Email providers (SendGrid, Mailgun, or your SMTP server)
- Telegram Bot API
- Twilio (for WhatsApp and SMS relay)
- Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams (via webhooks)
- Custom webhook endpoints you specify
These services have their own privacy policies. MessagePilot is not responsible for how these third parties handle your data.
5. Subscription & Payments
Subscriptions are processed through Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. Billing is handled entirely by the platform's payment system.
6. Data Storage
- On-Device: Your forwarding rules, destination configurations, and message history are stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database.
- On Our Server: Only your anonymous device ID, platform info, and aggregate forwarding statistics.
7. Data Retention
On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. Server-side usage statistics are retained for up to 12 months for service improvement purposes.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- All API communication uses HTTPS encryption
- Optional end-to-end encryption for forwarded message content (Premium feature)
- API credentials for third-party services are stored locally on your device
- No plaintext passwords stored anywhere
9. Children's Privacy
MessagePilot is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete all your data by uninstalling the app and contacting us
- Export your rules and settings using the app's backup feature
- Request deletion of server-side data by emailing us
- Opt out of usage statistics collection
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app.
